Key Details:



  • Company: OPUL, OPBL, OSBL (over 9,000 hectares of oil palm, 6,000 hectares in three districts, crude oil shipped to Bidco Uganda Limited).

  • Position: Assistant Manager (Environment Health & Safety).

  • Reports to: General Manager, Sustainability Lead.

  • No. of Posts: 1.

  • Location: Uganda (multi-site).


Duties:



  • Coordinate EHSS activities across OPUL, OSBL, and OPBL sites.

  • Supervise EHSS officers.

  • Implement and maintain policies on Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability.

  • Coordinate ESG reporting for all sites.

  • Develop, implement, and administer EHS protocols, focusing on PPEs and safety programs.

  • Review and update the corporate EHS management system.

  • Prepare and implement EHS training plans with the Sustainability Lead.

  • Formulate short- and long-term EHS objectives and plans.

  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and submit reports.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report EHS performance against plans.

  • Oversee monthly/quarterly audit findings.

  • Maintain external contacts (environment, health, safety, government institutions).

  • Advise line departments on Environment, Health, and Safety.

  • Compile EHS data, report incidents/accidents accurately and on time.

  • Implement corporate EHSS strategies and objectives.

  • Provide EHS advice to management.


Requirements:



  • BSc in Environmental Management, Engineering, or Natural Resources Management.

  • Possession of Environmental Management Certificates is an advantage.

  • Strong organization, planning, and presentation skills.

  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety legislation.
