Are you passionate about advancing mental health in education? Do you believe that teachers play a vital role in promoting wellbeing and early intervention? Twogere is seeking a dynamic Consultant to develop a Mental Health First Aid Training Toolkit for Teachers, equipping them with the skills and confidence to support students’ mental health and wellbeing in the classroom and beyond. Assignment Duration 60 working days Consultancy Period Mid-September to November 2025 Location: On-site (Kampala, Uganda) with field workshops/consultations About the Assignment This consultancy offers an exciting opportunity to co-create a practical, contextually relevant Mental Health First Aid Toolkit for teachers. The toolkit will be grounded in evidence and co-developed through a participatory process involving key stakeholders: ● Teachers from diverse educational settings ● Mental health professionals ● Persons with lived experience of mental health conditions ● Representatives from the Ministry of Health, ● and related education and child protection agencies The final product will serve as a user-friendly training guide for teachers, enabling them to: ● Identify early signs of mental distress among learners ● Respond with appropriate first-line support ● Promote inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environments Key Responsibilities ● Conduct a brief assessment to understand contextual priorities ● Design the structure, content, and methodology for the toolkit ● Facilitate stakeholder consultations and validation workshops ● Produce a comprehensive and adaptable training toolkit (including facilitator guide, handouts, and practical tools) ● Deliver a final report outlining the development process, feedback integration, and recommendations for rollout Who We’re Looking For An individual or team with: ● Demonstrated expertise in mental health, psychosocial support, and/or inclusive education ● Proven experience in toolkit/manual development, preferably for training non-specialists ● Strong facilitation and participatory design skills ● Familiarity with child safeguarding, school settings, and national mental health frameworks ● Excellent writing and design skills, with a knack for translating technical content into practical tools ● Individuals with lived experience of mental health condition/s who qualify are strongly encouraged to apply. At least two samples of similar toolkits, manuals, or training resources you have led or co-authored 3.
