The Country Managing Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the company’s operations within the assigned country. This role is responsible for driving long-term growth, profitability, and return on investment, while ensuring that all business activities align with the company’s mission and strategic goals. The Country MD will serve as the chief representative of the business, fostering key stakeholder relationships and ensuring operational excellence, legal compliance, and strategic development.

Key Responsibilities: 


Executive Leadership & Governance



  • Oversee all operations, set business direction, and drive execution aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Present annual budgets and financial plans to the Board for approval and monitor execution.

  • Analyze departmental performance reports for strategic decision-making.

  • Liaise with government officials, regulators, and partners to identify and secure business opportunities.

  • Lead the creation and implementation of business strategies and operational policies.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance frameworks and directives.

  • Ensure full compliance with national laws and industry regulations.

  • Represent the company in legal matters where necessary.


Financial Management, Business Development & Growth



  • Monitor financial performance and advise the Board on financial health and opportunities.

  • Drive business growth through new service development, market expansion, and customer acquisition.

  • Provide oversight on marketing, sales, and strategic alliances to increase revenue and impact.


Stakeholder Relations & Operations Oversight



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government bodies, and strategic partners.

  • Supervise daily operations across all departments including technical, safety, and health units.

  • Implement efficient systems and standards for service delivery.


Reporting & Communication



  • Keep the Executive Director and Board informed on key operational matters and business risks.

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports.

  • Stay updated on relevant legal, industry, and market developments.


People Leadership & Development



  • Establish KPIs and a performance management framework using tools such as the Balanced Scorecard or JGC approved frameworks.

  • Conduct regular reviews with department heads to ensure alignment and accountability.

  • Manage performance of direct reports and ensure target achievement.

  • Lead performance appraisals, career development, and succession planning.

  • Identify training needs and oversee capacity-building efforts.


Job Specification: 


Education & Experience:



  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Economics, or a related field.

  • Membership in a recognized professional body.

  • Bilingual proficiency in French is a strong advantage for cross-border collaboration within the Group.

  • Minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 8 years in senior leadership within the industry.

  • Strong background in business development, operations, and stakeholder engagement.
