WaterAid seeks a consultant to:



  1. Strengthen the link between WASH and cholera control, leveraging insights from initiatives like:

    • Political economy analysis of cholera.

    • Advocacy with policymakers.



  2. Support the Global Roadmap to End Cholera by 2030 (via WaterAid’s role in the GTFCG’s WASH Working Group).

  3. Address systemic issues:

    • Underinvestment in WASH services.

    • Reactive (vs. preventive) health-sector responses.

    • Climate change exacerbating cholera risks (e.g., floods, droughts).




Key Statistics:



  • Untreated cholera can have a 50% fatality rate; with interventions (clean water, treatment), this drops to 1%.

  • Climate-related disasters (cyclones, droughts) worsen water access and cholera spread.
