The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) seeks a qualified consultancy firm to conduct a comprehensive assessment of smartphone penetration and pricing in Uganda. The study aims to provide actionable insights into the current market dynamics, affordability, and accessibility of smartphones across different regions and demographics in Uganda.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct a nationwide survey to determine smartphone ownership rates and usage patterns.

  • Analyze pricing trends of smartphones in the Ugandan market, including new and refurbished devices.

  • Identify barriers to smartphone adoption, such as cost, infrastructure, and awareness.

  • Assess the impact of government policies and initiatives on smartphone penetration.

  • Provide recommendations to enhance affordability and increase smartphone uptake, particularly among underserved populations.


Requirements:



  • Proven experience in conducting market research, particularly in the telecommunications or technology sectors.

  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in data collection and interpretation.

  • Familiarity with Uganda’s telecommunications landscape and regulatory framework.

  • Ability to deliver a detailed report with clear findings and actionable recommendations.
