Accountant at Trapical Bank


DEPARTMENT: FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION


REPORTS TO: MANAGER FINANCIAL REPORTING/MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB


Perform the bank's day-to-day financial operations by ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, preparation of BOU reports, submission of taxes, processing financial transactions, supporting the preparation of financial statements, and assisting with budgeting and compliance.


Responsibilities



  1. Prepare the monthly financial reports for management, regulators, and other stakeholders.

  2. Report on compliance with financial controls, including fixed asset management.

  3. Regularly and accurately update the general ledger to reflect all financial transactions.

  4. Support the business when preparing or evaluating new proposals (new contracts, revisions of contracts, investment decisions).

  5. Prepare payment vouchers for approval by the line manager and advise or post the approved payments and transactions into the Core Banking System.

  6. Support the line manager and other team members in ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as needed.

  7. Prepare periodic suspense and Nostro accounts reconciliations and reports

  8. Ensure that creditors’ payments are made in a timely manner.

  9. Ensure accurate financial record-keeping at all times.

  10. Ensure implementation of internal control points or recommendations raised by external and internal auditors.

  11. Assist in preparing financial reports and statements required by regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with relevant banking regulations, accounting standards (IFRS), and tax laws.

  12. Process financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.

  13. Conduct periodic fixed assets verification exercises and ensure that asset movements are followed and updated in the register in liaison with the administration department.

  14. Ensure the end-of-month provisions and amortization schedules are prepared and posted into the accounting system

  15. Support in analysing variances between actual and budgeted figures and provide explanations for differences

  16. Analyse and consolidate all information submitted by departments and branches for budget formulation

  17. Review & analyse all off-balance sheet items and liaise with the Credit department to confirm accuracy.

  18. Compile regulatory returns and ensure submission on time

Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
    • Enrolment on a Professional certification program like ACCA ,CPA


Skills & Experience



  • At least 2 years of banking or accounting experience
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide insights.
    • In-depth understanding of financial management and accounting principles

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB


To build and customise applications, systems, and interfaces to support the bank’s digital platform, internal processes, and other business units.


Responsibilities



  1. Lead application development initiatives to the overall IT & Bank digital strategy.

  2. Design, code, test, and deploy high-quality software applications and systems tailored to meet the bank’s needs. This includes both front-end and back-end development as required.

  3. Document system developments in accordance with the application development policy

  4. Integrate new software solutions from vendors with existing systems and applications within the bank’s ecosystem, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.

  5. React quickly to application development-related security incidents to regain customer confidence. 

  6. Develop designated software solutions within the Bank to ensure that the software needs are met within the agreed timelines. 

  7. Identify and resolve technical issues related to software performance, security, and usability and provide technical support to end-users and other IT teams as needed.

  8. Create and maintain technical documentation and user guides related to software design, development, and maintenance processes and

  9. Develop and generate reports as per user/ business requirements

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or others relevant to banking systems.

  • Knowledge of T24 core banking is an added advantage.

  • A good understanding of Cloud infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of developing applications and interfaces

  • Experience in working in a fast-paced agile environment.
